You can see an overview of the Foundation Degree in Digital Innovation, aligned to the Software Developer Level 4 Apprenticeship here https://bit.ly/SoftwareL4
As a Junior Software Engineer, you will produce quality technical solutions to help our business progress. You will work within a team, alongside other engineers who will support you. You will be able to write good-quality tests and production code with their support. You will develop the knowledge to use the right design pattern at the right time and follow best-practice engineering principles with some support. With the support of your team, you will be able to write automated tests to ensure our systems are resilient to defects and will be able to create technical documentation to aid collaboration between individuals and teams.
You will also need to focus on your learning and development on the Level 4 Software Engineer Apprenticeship, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet the apprenticeship standard. You’ll split your time between learning on the job and more formal ‘off-the-job’ learning with Ada, National College for Digital Skills. This will include a mixture of interactive classroom sessions, virtual learning, study days, shadowing and much more. You’ll spend at least 20% of your time in off-the-job
learning, and after an initial six-week block of training, you’ll study with Ada in one-week blocks every 4-8 weeks.
We are sure this apprenticeship will give you an excellent and supportive start to your career in tech!
Due to the nature of an apprenticeship scheme, there is no expectation of prior experience when joining.
As a Junior Software Engineer, you will be a team player, collaborating with the team to build quality software and work with others to deliver it reliably. You will have good verbal and non-verbal communication skills with a curious mindset, seeking out best practices across the business unit.
