Brief Description

We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join a team of experienced data professionals. You will be joining a large team of data scientists with experience and expertise in a wide range of methodologies, toolkits and applications to a variety of problems in the media landscape.
As a Junior Data Scientist, you will contribute towards designing

Qualifications Required

GCSE Maths and English Grades 9-5 or A -C
A Level Maths or Statistics A-C
Hold a STEM or analytical degree from university (or equivalent experience) OR a be highly numerate undergraduate studying a relevant degree in mathematics, statistics, econometrics or computer science

Personal Qualities

A flexible analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision
Data-driven mindset and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret technical language in layman’s terms

Skills Required

Hold a STEM or analytical degree from university (or equivalent experience) OR a be highly numerate undergraduate studying a relevant degree in mathematics, statistics, econometrics or computer science
Proven experience in large volume data analysis and manipulation
Excellent analytical skills and strong statistical knowledge, as well as interest in applying them to complex problems
Experience of coding in Python, R or SQL
Experience/interest in cloud computing and/or (un)structured databases
Ability to self-manage effectively and an appreciation of project management
A passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data

Training to be Provided

Our Level 6 standard is integrated with a degree in Digital & Technology solutions which is validated by the Open University. Each cohort spends their first 6 weeks at college taking part in our Launchpad training.

This training not only covers modules for the degree programme but also ensures to prepare you for the workplace. Following the Launchpad training you will return to your employer for 7-8 weeks returning to Ada for one-week blocks on a rotation basis.

Future Prospects

Upon successful completion of apprenticeship, there may be a full-time role or further training.

We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join a team of experienced data professionals. You will be joining a large team of data scientists with experience and expertise in a wide range of methodologies, toolkits and applications to a variety of problems in the media landscape.

As a Junior Data Scientist, you will contribute towards designing and developing data science algorithms and business solutions on a project basis and work to further the progress of the data science team. You will partner closely with the product management, strategy and engineering practices to help develop and improve the product offerings of Choreograph.
You will be able to apply your skills on a wide range of data science functions: from building data feeds and pipelines that support models, to working on the models themselves and optimising and productionising these models into the business.
You will be a part of a vibrant group, collaborating with specialist and business teams, demonstrating your technical knowledge and growing your soft/interpersonal skills
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Work alongside senior data professionals to analyse large, complex data sets
Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate, and extract data
Work to ensure the data pipeline is clean and reporting is correct
Research and apply a wide range of data science methodologies
Use Python to create predictive models - analyse wide range of data and build trends and behaviour predictions
Build reports, dashboards and visualisations
Work closely with business to understand their requirements and carry out implementations
Be a part of an innovative and enthusiastic team
Have an opportunity to work on cutting edge projects

Other Information

You will be training at Ada, National College for Digital Skills, towards a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship, achieving a BSc Digital and Technology Solutions Degree validated by the Open University. Each cohort spends their first 6 weeks at college taking part in our Launchpad training. This training not only covers modules for the degree programme but also ensures to prepare you for the workplace. Following the Launchpad training you will return to your employer for 5-6 weeks, returning to college for one-week block releases on a rotation basis.
